Here you will find the answers to the questions we get asked the most.

Including general information, everything around our training, how you can become a member of the team, and what we are up to in our free time.

1What is MilCOMP?
MilCOMP stands for military competition.
A competition where different teams from around the world compete against each other in military skills. We represent Switzerland in these competitions.
2When was MilCOMP founded?
The very first MilCOMP team existed until 2009. After that it was ceased due to the lack of financial resources.
Pomy refounded the team in 2015 after attending the NATO summer congress in Bulgaria. Since 2016, this team competes again on an international level, proudly representing Switzerland.
3Are you in the Swiss army?
Yes and no, all competitors of the Swiss military competition team are officers in the Swiss military in different functions and branches.
This team, however, is not a separate branch or function you could apply for while in the Swiss army. It is more of a hobby for us where we compete in military sports while still doing our regular duty. Therefore, we are a part of the KI (Kommission International) and not part of the army itself.
4Can I join you?
If you want to become a member of the Swiss military competition team, you have to be an active member of the Swiss army in a rank of a Lieutenant or higher.
We are generally open for every military branch. It would, however, be of advantage if you are from a strike force and have a certain fitness level.

The selection consist of the following:

1) A written application including your military-CV and a motivational letter.
2) Sport examination (e.g. push-ups, core strength etc.).
3) Shooting examination and other military skills.

Finally, you need to fit into one of the teams as a person. We are not looking for the best individual, we are looking for the best team.

The selection takes places once a year in September/October. More information will be posted on our Instagram account a couple of weeks before the selection.

If you are interested in becoming a member of the team and think that you got what it takes, please contact us using the contact form or send us a message on Instagram.
5Is MilCOMP your full-time occupation?
No, MilCOMP is more like a serious hobby for us. All of us have fulltime jobs or study.
6Can I train with you?
No, due to the fact that we are training on military ground with military equipment, the MilCOMP training is only for the team members.
7How can I meet you?
The best possibility to meet the team is during our annual Happening, which takes place in March. Look out for more information on our Instagram or in the events section.
8What is the MilCOMP-Happening?
The MilCOMP-Happening took place in 2019 for the first time. It is an event where our supporters and followers have the opportunity to meet us and also test the newest guns, ammunition and equipments.
We are trying to organize a Happening once a year in March. The second Happening in 2020, however, had to be cancelled due to Covid-19.
9Where do you train?
We train exclusively on military ranges for which official permits are needed.
Since we are affiliated to the SOG and SAT, and represent Switzerland at the international level, we get the permission to train on every Swiss military training area.

If you want to shoot off-military-duty but on military ranges, we encourage you to become part of a UOV or OG.

If you just want to have a good time and shoot some guns in private or with your friends, there are plenty of private ranges in Switerland such as the SZO for example.
10What kind of sports do you do in your free time?
We all do a lot and all kinds of sport outside of MilCOMP: crossfit, biathlon, waterpolo, parachuting (hike and fly), artistic gymnastics...

Regarding the MilCOMP competitions, it has proven to be very beneficial that we are such a polysportive team. We have a "specialist" for almost every discipline, which gives us the possibility to allocate our strengths in the best way.
11How does your training look like?
Every member is responsible for his/her fundamental fitness level. Shooting trainings as a team take place 4x a month on average. We add in some additional orienteering and endurance team trainings on the weekends before the competitions. After the competitions we normally take a 1 or 2 month break from team trainings.
12Do you give shooting lessions?
We do not give shooting lessons as a team.

However, all of our team members are excellent shooters and have given classes upon request.

We are open for cool ideas if you have a special occasion, just shoot us a message and we will get back to you to see if we can make something happen.
13How old are you?
We want to give young and motivated officers a place to improve their skills. For this reason, everyone who has finished the RS and the necessary further education can become a member (given you fulfill the other requirements).
Our members are 22 to 30 years old.
14Where do you get money and guns from?
Due to the fact that we represent Switzerland at the international level, we get financial support from the Swiss international committee (IBV and SAT).

For gun reviews and ammunition, we are closely working together with the Swiss arm industry, especially with Ammotec Schweiz AG.
15Do you have merchandise?
We do not have any merchandise yet but are working on shirts, patches and stickers with our logo on them.

If you happen to be a textile retailer or if you have experience in printing high quality shirts, please contact us using the contact form or send us a message on Instagram!
16How can I/we collaborate with you?
We are always open for serious offers and new ideas in the shooting and military sport field.

Should you be interested in working with us or have a certain project in mind, please do not hesitate to contact us using the contact form.
